Description

Giant Russian Garlic has a milder flavour than garlic with the bonus of very large cloves and bulbs. The garlic plant has been a food source for man for over 5,000 years. It has been used as a culinary spice and as a medicinal herb since the times of the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Culinary use in salads, meats, vegetables and marinades, garlic butter, etc. Medicinally, its action is antiseptic and antibiotic. Approved by German Commission E as a remedy for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Modern folk use includes treatment for intestinal parasites in both humans and domesticated animals. A companion plant, it may also used be in a spray to repel garden pests. Giant Russian Garlic is a native of Siberia and prefers rich, moist sandy soils in a protected, sunny position, Frost resistant but drought tender. A perennial plant, growing to a height of 1m x 0.3m.
