DescriptionAngelica was used as protection from the plague because of its association with the archangel Michael. A hardy plant with medicinal and culinary uses. Leaves, stems and flowers can be candied like fruit or steamed as a vegetable. Helps to maintain normal kidney function. The leaves are chewed as a breath sweetener. Angelica is indigenous to Syria and prefers moist rich soils in a well drained, protected position with morning sun. Drought and frost resistant. A biennial or perennial plant, growing to 1m x 1m.
