DescriptionMouse Ears is also known as Hawkweed. Ground cover with rosettes of leaves uniquely covered with stellately branched hairs. The leaves eaten in salads. It was believed that hawks improved there vision by eating the juice of this plant. The leaf has astringent properties and are used as a poultice for wounds or, brewed as a tea, used as a gargle. Mouse Ears is a native of Europe and prefers well drained soils in an open, sunny position. Yellow flower heads in spring, summer and autumn. Drought and frost resistant. A perennial plant, growing to 0.3m x 0.3m.
