DescriptionRosa canina is sometimes known as Dogrose. The small hard reddish fruits of these heirloom roses are called “rosehips”. Rosehips are a rich source of Vitamin C. The flowers and rosehips are used as a herbal tea. In traditional medicine rosehips are used as a remedy for memory loss. Rosa canina is a native of Europe and prefers dry loamy soils in an open, sunny position. Flowers are red, pink or white occurring and spring. The fruit are red, globular, fleshy hips, ripening in autumn. Drought and frost resistant. An evergreen shrub, growing to a height of 5m x 3m. | |||||||||||||
