DescriptionBloodflower is also known as Wild Ipecac. An easy to grow plant with showy blood red and orange flowers. Butterflies attracted to the blooms. The white sap in stem is used for the removal of warts, corns etc. Once the root was once used as an emetic, though it does not have the same active constituents as Ipecac. Bloodflower is indigenous to tropical America and prefers light, rich soils in an open, sunny position. Drought and frost tender. An evergreen shrub, growing to a height of 1m x 1 m. An annual in temperate regions.
