DescriptionCarombola is also known as Star fruit and Five Corner Fruit An attractive tree, Carombola produces two large crops a year of juicy fruit. Golden in colour, the fruit has a citrus accent and makes star shapes when cut in the transverse. Delicious when eaten fresh, made into chutney or used as a garnish, particularly on seafood. Carombola is native to India and Malaysia and prefers rich, moist soils in a protected, partially shaded position. Drought and frost tender, however in our experience it can tolerate frosts once established. An evergreen tree that grows to 12m x 3m. Flowers are white and purple. Long panicles occur on trunk and branches. | |||||||
