Chives is also known as Onion Chives Traditionally the greens are a culinary spice, being rich in vitamins. and minerals. Used in salads, with meats, and in sandwiches. May be cut often. Folk use in the European tradition to stimulate appetite and aid digestion. Used as a companion plant. Chives are native to Europe and Asia. Adaptable to most good garden soils and prefers an open, sunny position. Drought and frost resistant. A perennial plant, growing to 0.25m x 0.25m. Pink to lavender flowers in late spring and autumn.
