Description

Calendula plant, Calendula officinalis, is also known as English Marigold and Pot Marigold. A salve made from the flower is a premier healing agent and antiseptic. Simple mastication of the flowers will yield a similar result. Flowers are also used a base for herbal teas, in salads and to colour butter and cheese. Used as a companion plant and in pot pourri. Calendula plant is indigenous to the Mediterranean area and is adaptable to most soils and conditions, provided it is in a sunny position. Flowers in summer. Prolong the flowering time by regularly cutting off dead flowers heads. Drought and frost resistant. An annual plant, growing to 0.6m x 0.6m.
