Description
The leaves of Germander, Teucrium scorodonia, were once substituted for hops in the brewing of beer. Germander is also known as Wood Gernander, Wood Sage and Sage-leafed Germander. Germander is not related to sage (Salvia officinalis. Germander is used internally to treat feverish conditions and externally of slow-healing wounds and ulcers. This plant makes a thick and hardy ground cover. Germander is native to Europe and is adaptable to most soils in an open sunny position. Drought and frost resistant. A perennial, growing to 0.6m x 1.0m.
