Description
Goji, Lycium barbarum, is also known as Matrimony Vine and Chinese Boxthorn. In Asia the leaves and berries are added to soups, rice dishes and drinks. A tonic herb, the dried fruit strengthens the liver and kidney. A specific treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis. Nourishes the vital essence. Gogi is native to China and prefers light to medium, well-drained soils in an open, sunny position. Produces showy purple and yellow funnel shaped flowers in summer. Frost resistant but drought tender. An evergreen shrub, growing to 3.5m x 2m.
