Description
A medicinal plant to the North American Indian. The resin, or gum, is used as a treatment for asthma, bronchitis and coughs. A poultice of the leaves and flowers used as a salve for insect bites. Gum Plant, Grindelia sqarrosa, is also known as Grindella. Approved by German Commission E as a treatment for bronchitis and coughs. Gum Plant is native to the west of Northern America and prefers light to medium well-drained soils in a protected, sunny position. Frost resistant but drought tender. A perennial plant, growing to 0.6m x 0.5m.
