Joe Pye, Eupatorium purpureum, is also known as Gravel Root and Queen of the Meadow. Joe Pye is a tall, graceful plant whose leaves have a vanilla fragrance when crushed. The root is valuable remedy for kidney problems and as a urinary tonic. Joe Pye is native to North America and prefers moist rich soils in a protected, partially-shaded position. Frost resistant, drought sensitive. Herbaceous perennial, growing to 2m x 1m.
