Description
Ox-Knee, Achyranthes bidentata, is sometimes called Niu-xi ( Chinese ). Ox-Knee,is a generous plant producing copious, succulent stems and foliage which taste similar to beetroot greens. Used in Chinese medicine to nourish the kidney and liver, to strengthen bones and sinuses, and to treat sores in the mouth and on the tongue. Ox-Knee, is native to Asia and prefers well composted, rich, free draining soils in a protected sunny position. Drought and frost tender. Herbaceous perennial, growing to 0.8m x 0.5m.
