Rauwolfia plant, Rauwolfia serpentina, is also known as Indian Snakeroot and Sarpgandha. A powerful hypnotic and sedative properties. Traditionally used in Asia and elsewhere to aid meditation. Used by Gandhi to calm his nerves. Rare and beautiful. Note: Potentially Toxic. Rauwolfia plant is native to Asia and prefers, well drained soils in full sun. Frost and drought tender. Tropical, evergreen sub-shrub, growing to 0.3m x 0.2m. Clusters of white-to-red tubular flowers in summer, followed by glossy red-to-purple berries.
