Description

Rocoto Manzano plant, Capsicum pubescens, is the oldest known chilli in the world. Domesticated by the Aztec and Mayan civilisations. Soft, fleshy, fragrent fruit. Purple flowers and black seeds. Chilli species originate from Central and South America and prefer rich well limed soils in a protected sunny position. Drought and frost tender. Perennial plant in warmer climate, growing to 1.5m. Rocoto Manzano plant requires hot growing conditions to mature fruit.
