Description

Toadflax, Linaria vulgaris, is sometimes known as Butter and Eggs. An elegant and excellent bedding plant with yellow snapdragon-like flowers. The herb is strong liver stimulant that must be used with care lest the effect be too drastic. Produces a yellow dye when whole plant is boiled in milk. Used as a fly poison; stand infusion of the herb where flies are troublesome. Toadflax is a native of the Northern Hemisphere and is adaptable to most well drained soils in an open, sunny position. Flowers appear in summer and autumn. Drought and frost resistant. A perennial plant, growing to 1m x 1m.
