Description
White Galanagal plant, Alpinia officinarum, is also known as Lesser Galangal, Loas, Indian or China Root and Rasna (Ayervedic). Similar culinary uses as Greater Galangal but the roots are warming. Traditional folk use in Asia as an aphrodisiac. This herb is renown for riding body of toxic waste and is widely used in TCM. Approved by German Commission E as a remedy for indigestion and poor appetite. White Galangal plant is a native of Java and prefers rich, moist soils in a protected, shady position. Drought and frost tender. A perennial plant, growing to a height of 1.6 m with a spread of 1m.
