Description
Wild Thyme plant, Thymus serphyllum, is also known as Mother Of Thyme, Shakespeare’s Thyme and Creeping Thyme. A very pungent spice and useful medicinal plant (see Thyme). The true wild thyme, its flavour is not as good as some subsequent cultivars, but medicinally it is very significant. An ideal thyme for rockeries, between stepping stones and dry slopes. Wild Thyme plant is a native of Europe and prefers well drained soils in an open sunny position. Flowers bluish purple in spring and summer. Drought and frost resistant. A perennial ground cover growing to 0.2m x 0.25m. Wild Thyme is well suited to create a thyme lawn.
