Clove plant, Syzygium aromaticum, is also known as:Ding Xiang (bud). Clove is made from the unopened flower bud. A folk remedy for colds, nausea. malaria and tuberculosis. Approved by German Commission E as a remedy for for sore throats and toothache. An herb used in Ayurvedic medicine. Aromatic leaves are the source of clove oil. Clove plant is native to Indonesia and Philippines and prefers moist, well drained soils in a protected, sunny position. Frost and drought tender. A tropical evergreen tree, growing to 15m. Pinkish flowers are followed by purple berries.
