Evening Primrose plant, Oenothera biennis, is so named because of its tenacity in flowering in the evening, regardless how harsh or inhospitable the conditions. Contains high levels of gamma-linolenic acid which assists women maintaining hormonal balance. Leaf and seeds eaten in salads is said to reduce nervous tension, rheumatism and period pain. Flowers are also edible and delicious. Evening Primrose plant is native to the North-East of America and is adaptable to most soils and conditions. Large, scented, bowl shaped yellow flowers produced in summer. Drought and frost resistant. An annual or biennial plant to 1.5m x 1.5m.
