Description
Myrobalan, Phyllanthus emblic, is also known as Amla and Emblic. Myrobalan is an Ayurvedic panacea of renown. Many parts of this tree are used to treat a large range of disorders. Main uses as liver tonic, antibiotic and anti-dysentery. Myrobalan is native to south-eastern Asia and prefers moist, well drained soil in a protected sunny position. Frost tolerant but drought tender. Deciduous tropical tree, growing to 15m. Clusters of small greenish yellow flowers in summer followed by edible fruit about the size of a plum.
