Toothache Plant, Spilanthes acmella, is also known as Spilanthes and Para Cress. Toothache Plant makes a stimulating and decay fighting mouthwash which brings rapid relief with quick antiseptic effect. The natural antibiotic leaves can be eaten fresh like cress or added to salads. The whole plant is an indispensable immune building tonic, particularly synergistic with Echinacea in the beginning phases of bacterial or viral infection. Found to give relief from thrush, candida and herpes. An essential plant for every medicinal herb garden. Can be grown in a pot indoors. Toothache Plant is native to tropical South America and prefers rich, moist well drained soils in an open sunny position. A perennial in tropical areas, an annual in temperate areas. Small composite flowerheads of red and yellow appear in late summer. Drought and frost tender. Growing to 0.3m x 0.2m.
